This draft policy sets out Creative New Zealand’s approach to equity in the arts.
The policy sets out how Creative New Zealand will support equity (mana tautika) in the arts and give effect to our obligations under the Arts Council of New Zealand Toi Aotearoa Act 2014 so all New Zealanders can access, take part in and benefit from the arts, culture, creativity and ngā toi Māori.
It applies to and supports our people, our work, and the way we work with the arts and ngā toi Māori sector and communities, as described in Tū Mai Rā, Toi Aotearoa, our long-term strategy to 2040.
This policy replaces our Diversity in the Arts Policy 2015.
We want to hear your views on the draft policy. Consultation will be open from 15 April to 10 May 2026.
