Theme
The theme for 2023 is Brave New World – A new level and a new way of thinking, He reanga hou, he whakaaro hou. We are looking forward to collectively finding the courage to do things differently outside our traditional models of arts leadership, practice and engagement. As we respond to our changing environment, what world do we want to create? What are the conditions for success that need to change? And how will we achieve transformational change together?
The theme will be explored through a combination of keynotes, panels and breakout sessions which will focus on:
- Collective transformation
- Exploring the impact of COVID-19, climate change and changes to traditional models of arts engagement and arts practice.
- What needs to change and how can we work towards this more collaboratively?
- The powerful advocacy goals we need to collectively work towards as a joined-up sector (ie, narratives for change and who needs to hear them).
- Honouring te Tiriti o Waitangi
- Transformational leadership and adaptation in a COVID-19 environment.
- How Te Tiriti o Waitangi is recognised and reflected in the arts.
- Where will we be in a generation’s time, and what are we contributing to that?
- Tuakana-Teina
- Creating space for rangatahi leaders to contribute kōrero on the future of the arts.
- Succession planning and new models of creation and engagement.
Join us for a kōrero that will challenge, provoke and inspire change both within you and for your practice or organisation.
The programme will include a half-day Parihaka Experience on Wednesday 27 September for manuhiri who would like to learn from the direct descendants of Tohu Kākahi and Te Whiti o Rongomai about the Parihaka Story - past, present and future, and the story of two courageous and bold leaders who acted during a time of great change.
