Calling all creatives the Capital E Ideatorium is open

Capital E is looking for digital, visual, installation and performance artists from across New Zealand who want to create new and unique experiences for children.

For more than 21 years, Capital E has worked with talented artists to deliver memorable, immersive experiences for Kiwi kids across the country, becoming a part of the cultural fabric in the creative capital.

Supported by Creative New Zealand, artists are invited to submit their expressions of interest to the Ideatorium, an opportunity for experienced and emerging artists to develop their careers and creative expression and see their work enjoyed by New Zealand’s youngest creative citizens.

Dr Sarah Rusholme, Director of Children & Young People at Capital E says Creative New Zealand’s support allows them to continue spreading their kaupapa of enhancing creativity in children and young people through creative encounters that bring together live performance and innovative digital technology around New Zealand.

Dr Rusholme says that they are really looking forward to seeing what artists come up with and working with the selected artists closely to develop their project from an idea to reality.

“We know the quality of talent that exists out there and we are so excited to see what these artists propose for the Ideatorium.

“Whether it’s using new technologies like virtual reality and coding, innovative performances, or interactive play-based experiences - we are keen to see what new and fresh ideas artists have that will enrich the lives of our tamariki.”

Applications will be assessed by an independent Artistic Advisory Panel who bring expertise and contextual knowledge of the arts and of work made for children.

The Capital E team will partner with the successful artists to further develop the project.

Submissions close Friday 25 October 2019. More information about the Ideatorium and what Capital E is looking for can be found here.
