More than 200 arts organisations from across New Zealand attended Nui te Kōrero, formerly ‘The Big Conversation’, in Auckland recently to learn and share ideas to help them grow and develop.
This year’s theme, talking about diversity, examined why diversity and inclusion in the arts are important and how the arts can provide a platform for change.
A highlight of the varied programme was a keynote address by Arts Council of New Zealand member and owner of Haumi (NZ) Ltd, Karl Johnstone, who explained the concept of Culturalpreneurship. You can watch the video below.
Arts Council England’s Director of Diversity, Abid Hussain, delivered a video keynote (below) outlining the Creative Case for Diversity, which empowers organisations and artists to enrich their work by embracing diverse influences and practices. Well received, it was followed by a lively panel session.
