How to count statistics
Number of new artworks or titles created
This means:
- The number of unique, new, original artworks that have been created or developed.
This applies only to artworks that did not previously exist – it does not include the reinterpretation of existing artworks.
Number of participants involved in an artistic capacity
This means:
- The number of individual people actively involved in making or presenting art, including those participating within groups or communities.
This applies to professional, emerging and non-professional artists, including those involved in cultural and recreational activities.
Participation does not include activities such as listening to recorded music, reading a book or going to a show.
Number of arts events or days
For an exhibition, this means:
- The number of days an exhibition was open to the public.
For a performance, this means:
- The number of performances given.
This statistic captures the number of times an arts experience was available to an audience.
Number of event attendances or artworks distributed
This means:
- The number of people who attended an arts activity or event, whether paid, complimentary or free
- The number of copies of a publication, artwork or recording distributed or purchased
- The number of times an online artwork, recording or arts experience was accessed, streamed or downloaded
If the arts activity or artwork was distributed or accessed online, make sure you have selected Online as the activity location.
You can use Google Analytics to find the number of people who accessed a digital experience, or the number of times a video or recording was played.
