Touring for the first time with Arts On Tour NZ, Wellington based Eb & Sparrow, a five piece band led by Ebony Lamb is cementing its reputation as one of the coolest Kiwi country groups around, featuring expansive ballads, rollicking good-time songs and a few memorable torch-burners. They’ve opened for international acts and performed alongside local legends including Marlon Williams, Delaney Davidson and the Warratahs - and are noted for their storytelling as much as Ebony’s poignant vocals.
“Eb & Sparrow is a honeyed, smokey. foot tappin’ treat for the ears….the five-piece lay down whole-hearted, deep-hued, visceral tales…with such beautiful warmth and fragility you’re hooked from the first glide of lap steel to the last soaring, vocal phrase” – Lydia Jenkins, NZ Herald
“Eb & Sparrow bring Ry Cooder’s Paris, Texas twang, slide, croon and growl to the Kiwi heartland” – The Listener

Arts On Tour New Zealand (AOTNZ) organises tours of outstanding New Zealand performers to rural and smaller centres in New Zealand. The trust receives funding from Creative New Zealand, support from Interislander, and liaises with local arts councils, repertory theatres and community groups to bring the best of musical and other talent to country districts. The AOTNZ programme is environmentally sustainable – artists travel to their audiences rather than the other way around.
