Have you ever dreamt of playing music with a joystick

Join NOP.nz orchestra and embark on an amazing journey across sound, image, technology and culture!

What?

NOP.nz: New Orchestra Practices in NZ
Amateurs and artists will be gathered to play sound and visual pieces with joysticks!

Cross-cultural project between France and New Zealand
This inter-arts orchestra will perform pieces from both France and New Zealand. Cultures will interact with one another using a pioneer device!

Who?

All walks of life welcome
The joystick orchestra is open to all. No particular skills are required, you just have to be open-minded. Come and learn to play!

Composers and visual artists are invited to join too
If you are interested in writing an original piece for the orchestra and enthusiastic about using an innovative software, please come along.

When?

Rehearsals begin Friday 6th May
The joystick orchestra will be established from Friday 6th May 2011. Weekly rehearsals will take place from 6 to 8pm, three Fridays per month.

First concert during the Rugby World Cup
24th September will be the match between France and New Zealand at Eden Park. The NOP.nz orchestra will play its first concert at the Waterfront in Auckland for this event.

Where?

The Alliance Française in Auckland
Rehearsal venue is the Alliance Française located at 9A Kirk Street, Grey Lynn. Carpark and public transport available (Bus 45, 48,42 and 199 stop Kirk Street on Great North Road).

How?

Free admission
Joining the joystick orchestra is free. The only requirement is to attend each rehearsal.
