Artists
Propose to play at the most important international gathering of world music professionals, WOMEX '10 in Copenhagen. The selected acts will be playing in front of 1,000 international bookers, countless labels, distributors, journalists – everyone you need to help launch, sustain and expand your careers.
WOMEX 09 Showcase act Kouyaté-Neerman expressed great satisfaction after their show:
"The feedback we already have is amazing: a tour in the UK including the Brighton Festival, a potential festival tour in Canada and options at the Lincoln Jazz Center in NY, Chicago, agents and release of the album in Italy, 2 festivals in France, and much interest from all around Europe and Asia: We could not expect such a success. This was really worth the investment!!"
In 2009 WOMEX received around 700 artist proposals for almost 40 slots. The selection is done by the WOMEX Jury - the famous 7 Samurai - made up each year of a new generation of world music passionates.
Speakers
Share your Live, Recorded and Digital Experiences as well as your "Vision Beyond" with your peer professionals at WOMEX. The four key areas mentioned above will guide this year's Conference, designed to serve the industry's ongoing need for education, exchange and inspiration.
Mentors
Offer your expertise. The popular Mentoring Sessions will be on once again. Delegates can sign up to talk to adepts free of charge in a variety of fields. WOMEX is looking for mentors - anyone with valuable advice and feedback to offer.
The 2009 programme saw more than 60 speakers from 30 countries in around 30 Conference and Mentoring Sessions. Besides selecting the official Showcases the WOMEX Jury will also be collaborating on the Conference programme.
Will Page, Chief Economist at PRS for Music in London, noted about WOMEX 09: "It was the best music event I've ever been to, as a speaker and observer."
Filmmakers
Come show your work at the WOMEX/IMZ Film Screenings and join the World Music Films on Tour programme, a non-profit distribution project aimed at bringing musical diversity in film and video to a wider public. WOMEX's long-time partner IMZ, the International Music + Media Centre in Vienna, will jury the film proposals independently. With the IMZ Film Screenings WOMEX also features an international platform for world music in audio-visual media.
