Applications for the Auckland Mayoral Writers Grant are now open. The Mayor requests proposals for a quality text work about living in Auckland by 5pm on Friday 19 February.
The grant will be a single payment of $12,000 paid on completion of the work. The decision to award the grant will be made by an external panel.
The work may be in English, Te Reo or a combination of the two languages. Text work encompasses poetry, short story, novel, novella, script (theatre, film), children’s fiction, graphic fiction, graphic non-fiction, non-fiction, essay or other nominated literary form. Criteria and eligibility
The work must be:
• about living in Auckland
• text-based and a new work (work already underway will be considered)
• in English, Te Reo or a combination of the two languages
Retrospective work will not be considered. Music and song are not eligible.
Applicants must be:
• resident in the Auckland Council region
• able to demonstrate a body of work.
Proposals from children and young people who are students at school are not eligible.
