The Arts Council today paid tribute to seminal New Zealand painter Ralph Hotere, who died in Dunedin on Sunday, aged 81.
"With a career spanning five decades, Ralph Hotere, ONZ, was one of the country’s most significant contemporary artists and an influential figure in our cultural history,’’ said Arts Council Chair Alastair Carruthers.
“Hotere’s art is in collections throughout the world, a testament to his distinctive and potent vision.’’
