More than 60 individuals and arts organisations have endorsed Creative New Zealand’s submission on Inland Revenue proposals to clarify how it treats tax deductions for donations to charitable organisations.
Creative New Zealand made a submission because the proposals could potentially have a significant effect on arts organisations. We are concerned that any complexity would be a barrier for potential donors and would be counter to government’s desire to encourage philanthropy in the arts.
We want to ensure the new guidelines do not discourage donations or make receiving donations difficult to administer.
Creative New Zealand published a draft submission and called for endorsement from the sector. Thank you to all those who responded to that request.
