Moniek Schrijer wins prestigious international jewellery prize

Lower Hutt jeweller Moniek Schrijer has won what is considered the biggest international prize in contemporary jewellery - and she is the first New Zealander to do so.

Moniek, who exhibited at Schmuck in Munich this past week, was one of three winners of The Herbert Hofmann Preis (Prize) in 2016. Her fellow winners are Sweden's Jelizaveta Suska and Italy's Stefano Marchetti.

Moniek is the first New Zealander to win the prestigious award. The Whitireia graduate went to Munich in 2013 as an artist selected for Talente, so Creative New Zealand is thrilled to see her journey and success continue.

Congratulations Moniek!
