81 grants totalling $3,769,512 have been offered to support projects by New Zealand artists and practitioners in this funding round, across the three funding pools (General, Māori and Pacific). We received 259 eligible applications, with a total of $11,193,474 requested.
Arts Grants offer short-term project funding between $5,000 to $75,000 for New Zealand artists, arts practitioners, arts organisations, groups and collectives. This funding enables more sustainable careers, encourages innovation and the development of arts practice, and provides opportunities for diverse communities to access the arts.
We received 259 eligible applications, with a total of $11,193,474 requested.
This was broken down as follows:
- General Arts: 53 projects totalling $2,551,074 were supported. $8,656,883 was requested by 204 applicants.
- Māori Arts: 19 projects totalling $866,830 were supported. $1,570,774 was requested by 35 applicants.
- Pacific Arts: 9 projects totalling $351,607 were supported. $965,816 was requested by 20 applicants.
Also:
- 37 of the funded projects supported the development of arts practice and the creation of new work.
- 19 supported projects enabling New Zealanders to experience high-quality arts.
- 8 supported projects enabling New Zealanders to participate in the arts.
- 12 supported New Zealand arts to gain international success.
- 5 were to support building the resilience of the New Zealand arts sector
