To better understand career sustainability in the arts and creative industries, Creative New Zealand and NZ On Air asked research agency Kantar Public to survey a range of creative professionals.
The research paints a fairly bleak picture of remuneration in the arts sector and the sustainability of creative careers. Income growth is very low, and it continues to be a struggle for the majority of creative professionals to plan financially and to secure important loans such as mortgages.
It’s the second time the research has been undertaken and shows that there are still significant disparities for workers in the creative industries.
