Leadership New Zealand and Creative New Zealand announce a strategic partnership as part of a shared vision to strengthen leadership capability within the Pacific Arts sector.
Creative New Zealand is supporting four scholarships in 2019 for the Pacific Arts community to participate in The New Zealand Leadership Programme and The Mana Moana Experience, this country’s premier thought leadership programmes delivered by Leadership New Zealand.
“We’re delighted to have Creative New Zealand on board for the first time. Both organisations recognise the value of investing in the fabric of current and future Pasifika arts talent,” says Leadership New Zealand’s Chief Executive, Sina Wendt. “Our Programmes will provide invaluable access for Pasifika artists to develop personal leadership skills while addressing key issues facing New Zealand,” she adds.
“Supporting leadership opportunities for Pasifika artists and arts practitioners is a key focus in Creative New Zealand’s Pacific Arts Strategy 2018 – 2023,” says Caren Rangi, Arts Council Deputy Chair. “We are pleased to partner with Leadership New Zealand to offer these four scholarships. Over the next five years we want to see more Pasifika artists and arts practitioners in positions of leadership and influence. Our people have so much value to bring to leading the arts in Aotearoa,” she says.
Creative New Zealand’s contribution towards the four scholarships is valued at $70,000.
The successful 2019 recipients for NZLP are: Iosefa (Sefa) Enari (Director of Pacific Dance NZ) and Victor Rodger (Executive Producer of Flow, Create, Connect (FCC)). Both are recognised as leading and award-winning performing arts practitioners and artistic leaders in New Zealand.
