People transforming communities through creative arts will be sharing best practice knowledge at the national community arts summit held in Hamilton next month.
The Cultural Community Development (CCD) Summit, run by Creative Waikato, connects community arts practitioners to share industry experience and inspire new and innovative outcomes.
Creative Waikato CEO Sarah Nathan says the team, lead by Creative Development specialist Paul Bradley, wanted to offer development opportunities for community arts practitioners.
“In 2015 the team developed an inaugural summit to serve Waikato CCD practitioners. However registrations flooded in from around the country we realised there was a national need. We even had someone come from the Chatham Islands.”
As a result of the response to the 2015 event, the 2016 will cater for a national audience, with the support of Creative New Zealand.
The two-day workshop, (10 -11 March) offers fresh perspectives from guest speakers working in CCD around Aotearoa making it a great place to strengthen connections with other practitioners and key organisations.
Creative New Zealand’s Senior Adviser, Briar Munro, will present on communicating wider community benefits and how cultural community development can have high quality outcomes.
The summit will include both interactive sessions and presentations held once again in the international award winning Hamilton Gardens.
