SOUNZ the Centre for New Zealand Music moving location big moving sale on recordings

SOUNZ the Centre for New Zealand Music, is moving to the literal hub of creative activity in the capital. After 12 years at their Cambridge Terrace, Wellington address, SOUNZ will move into the top floor of Toi Pōneke Arts Centre in Abel Smith Street on August 2. The building is leased by the Wellington City Council as a focus point for Arts and artists in the Wellington area, and is also home to several other national arts organisations including Dance Aotearoa New Zealand (DANZ), Arts Access Aotearoa and Taki Rua Māori Theatre.

"We are very much looking forward to settling in to our new physical home," says Julie Sperring, Executive Director of SOUNZ. "It has a marvellous outlook, and is light, warm and dry. We will enjoy having arts-focused neighbours and there are other wonderful spaces on-site such as the Art Gallery, the Arts Hub, rehearsal rooms and conference spaces that we hope will open doors to all sorts of collaborations and opportunities."

"While so much of our business is conducted on-line, nationally and internationally, the new space will also be a comfortable and inviting place for people to visit to explore and discover the huge range and diversity of New Zealand music that we have through our library and listening facilities."

The impending move has also prompted SOUNZ to offer a great opportunity for musical bargain hunters (and to show some compassion to our movers.)

Rather than shift everything to the new location, they are offering discounts on hundreds of scores and recordings in the GREAT SOUNZ MOVING SALE, running now until Friday 30 July. More information about this is on the SOUNZ website.
