Launch your theatrical imagination onto the ATC mainstage in 2015 16

Do you have the Perfect Pitch?

Directors and/or independent theatre companies are invited to present initial expressions of interest for a production to be presented in Auckland Theatre Company’s 2015/16 main-bill subscription programme.

Artistic Director Colin McColl sees this as a dynamic way to explore a new collaboration and to present an exciting, fresh theatrical vision of scale to Aucklanders;

“We want to invigorate our audiences and ourselves with new provocations and ideas. Auckland’s indie theatre-scene is booming and Perfect Pitch is an opportunity for directors with great ideas and great scripts to take their work to larger stages and audiences. We can offer all the expertise and experience of ATC’s marketing and production units to showcase new talent”

We are looking for work with big ideas and a depth and breadth of imaginative vision that celebrates what makes the live experience of theatre unique.

This is an opportunity to collaborate with and have your idea produced by Auckland’s premier professional theatre company and presented to a large Auckland audience from a high-profile platform.

Auckland Theatre Company encourages excellence and this project is a great way for us to invigorate our programming, collaborate creatively, develop our audience and showcase new talent.

THE PROCESS

We welcome proposals from established artists and from artists who have not worked on the ATC main-stage before.

  1. An initial Expression of Interest (EOI) is required.
    The EOI should express what is at the heart of the project in terms of its artistic aspiration and its spirit, and your personal connection – as Director - to the work. Please include a brief description of the project itself, including key creatives you would like to have involved, and a vision for the production.

    If the project is based on extant material please ensure that theatrical rights are available and include relevant documentation to this effect. The EOI can include visual or sound materials but should not exceed 3 pages.

  2. All EOIs will be read and responded to by the ATC panel.

  3. Selected finalists will then be invited to submit detailed proposals and to pitch to the ATC panel in person.

  4. The successful candidate will have their work programmed in the ATC 2015/16 season.
