Today we’ve opened expressions of interest to take part in Te Puāwaitanga, our programme that helps selected arts organisations get ready to make an application to enter our Tōtara and Kahikatea investment programmes.
We’ll be running this bridging programme in 2020 for up to four eligible Māori and Pasifika-led arts organisations that meet specific criteria, with a view to helping fill some significant strategic gaps within our Tōtara and Kahikatea programmes.
If your arts organisation is selected to take part in Te Puāwaitanga, we can offer you capability building support to help your organisation to be prepared to meet the entry criteria for the Tōtara and Kahikatea programmes if the Arts Council agrees to open them in 2021 or 2022.
At the end of Te Puāwaitanga, your organisation will be advised if it is able to apply to the Tōtara and Kahikatea programmes. Even if your organisation does not progress to the Tōtara and Kahikatea application process, the business development and capability building support you could receive as part of Te Puāwaitanga can benefit your organisation.
There are eight criteria your arts organisation must meet to be considered eligible:
- Be a Māori and / or Pasifika-led arts organisation.
- Align to Creative New Zealand’s Investment Strategy Te Ara Whakamua 2018 - 2023, Te Hā o Ngā Toi Māori Arts Strategy 2019 – 2024 and/or the Pacific Arts Strategy 2018 – 2023.
- Have an emphasis on providing access to high-quality arts for under-represented audiences.
- Have an emphasis on distribution of services to diverse audiences.
- Provide us with a strategic plan that demonstrates an innovative kaupapa.
- Provide us with a business plan.
- Provide us with independently reviewed financial records for at least two years.
- Demonstrate a successful track record of receiving funding from Creative New Zealand or other funders.
There are places for four Maori-led and / or Pasifika-led arts organisations to enter Te Puāwaitanga in 2020. This means that even if your organisation meets all of the initial eligibility criteria you may still not be selected to enter the programme.
We will select the four organisations based on the strongest alignment to our strategies, the greatest emphasis on access and distribution and the strongest and most innovative kaupapa.
