Applications for APAM 2014 now open

Applications are now being called for companies and artists to attend the Australian Performing Arts Market (APAM) in Brisbane from 18 – 22 February 2014.

Applications can be made online now.  The closing date is 22 July 2013 AEST.

Applicants can apply to have tour-ready works and works-in-development presented either in full length, as excerpts or as pitches (previously known as Spotlights and Searchlights).  Applicants will be notified by APAM whether they are successful or not by 30 September 2013.

Creative New Zealand will provide travel and accommodation support to successful applicants and will be involved in the curatorial programming of the New Zealand works.

Attending APAM as a delegate

Early bird delegate registrations are open 15 May 2013.

Delegate registrations are expected to sell out, so applicants are encouraged to register early on the APAM website. Early registrants can also get additional discounts for second and subsequent registrations from the same company at the same time.

Creative New Zealand will provide targeted assistance for emerging Māori and Pasifika presenters or producers to attend as a capability-building opportunity.  Please contact Ana Sciascia on ana.sciascia@creativenz.govt.nz for further information about this opportunity.

What is APAM?

APAM is the premier industry event for contemporary performing arts in Australia and the Asia Pacific Region that brings the sector together to exchange ideas, experience new Australian and New Zealand work, engage in critical dialogue, build skills and partnerships, find new collaborators and investors, explore touring opportunities, and network with national and international peers.

In 2014, APAM will be presented by the Australia Council for the Arts in partnership with Brisbane Powerhouse, which will be the hub for all APAM activities and performances.  Additional events will be held in local partner venues including the Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC), the Judith Wright Centre of Contemporary Arts, the Queensland University of Technology Gardens Theatre, and the Queensland Conservatorium | Griffith University.

APAM 2014 will coincide with the annual World Theatre Festival, a boutique festival of curated independent performances that offer a unique insight into Australian arts within the Asia Pacific region and a global context.
