Artists for the Tsunami Relief ART AUCTION in Auckland

Artists for the Tsunami Relief have come together to organise an ART AUCTION on the Tuesday 20th of October at Webbs in Newmarket, Auckland. This promises to be an extravaganza – with live performances as well as a wonderful array of art for auction from some of New Zealands most renowned artists.

This artist initiated project is being co-ordinated through the Tautai Contemporary Pacific Arts Trust to raise funds to support those devastated by the tsunami in the Pacific. Donated works are pouring in with some from artists whose families and homes have been directly affected by the tragedy, and many continue to contribute valuable and popular work.

At this very early stage works have been promised from Lonnie Hutchinson, Niki Hastings-McFall, John Ioane, Suzanne Tamaki, Fatu Feuu, Edith Amituanai, Jim Vivieaere, Johnny Penisula, Michael Hight, Sopolemalama Filipe Tohi, Deborah Crowe, Chris Charteris, Tracey Tawhiao, Nathan Pohio, and many more.

Also included is an eclectic mix of novel works which include signed memorabilia of the broTown, T-shirt and CD package from King Kapisi, a DVD package of Sima Urale films, a photographic series by Steven Ball, as well as book packages from writers.

Entertainment on the night will be a cultural performance and siva, as well as live performances from various musicians and poets. It will be a night of remembrance, but also one in celebration of our Pacific heritage and artists ongoing commitment to supporting our communities.

This special event will attract lovers of art, dignitaries, and the Pacific communities who will all contribute and support those most affected by the tsunami.
