Fat Freddys Drop premiere fourth album at Sydney Opera House

New Zealands nine times platinum, seven-headed soul monster Fat Freddys Drop present the worldwide premiere of their fourth album Blackbird – exclusively animated, illustrated and performed live at Graphic.

New Zealand's nine times platinum, seven-headed soul monster Fat Freddy's Drop present the worldwide premiere of their fourth album Blackbird – exclusively animated, illustrated and performed live at Graphic.

A specially commissioned collaboration with celebrated New Zealand street artist Otis Frizzell, Fat Freddy's DNA is ingrained into the Graphic festival spirit – from the group's name play on the Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers cult comic character 'Fat Freddy’ to the cartoon band members rendered on each album cover. This back-to-back show will be the only opportunity to preview their 'big beat heavy jammin' party' before Blackbird's release next year.

Defiantly indefinable with a melting pot of genres, 'New Zealand's most critically acclaimed band' has turned word-of-mouth success into global rapture, selling half a million records worldwide whilst performing annual tours throughout Europe. Charging dub, reggae, soul, jazz, blues and techno with their signature grooves and improvisation, even the BBC has admitted that 'capturing the atmosphere of a Fat Freddy gig is futile'.

Now combining their larger-than-life sound with transcendent visuals, get ready to immerse yourself in Fat Freddy’s world with two exclusive Graphic performances of Blackbird.
