Creative New Zealand’s International team is running two forums in March as part of the incoming visitors programme Te Manu Ka Tau, with the support of the Auckland Arts Festival.
The forum topics are:
- Working with Asia: Opportunities for artists and arts organisations
- Fringe Festivals: Focus on the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
Working with Asia: Opportunities for artists and arts organisations
Tuesday 10 March 2015, 10am–12pm, Speigeltent, Aotea Square, Auckland
The purpose of this forum is to:
- increase understanding of how to work in Asia and with Asian artists and arts organisations
- raise the awareness of the opportunities for collaboration and exchange
- explore the platforms and touring networks available to New Zealand artists
- to promote the funding and support that is available for activity in Asia.
International speakers include Jisun Park (Korea), Alison Friedman (Beijing), Goh Ching-Lee (Singapore), Keng Yi-Wei (Taipei) and Asaki Shimoyama (Japan). New Zealand speakers include Carla Van Zon (Auckland Arts Festival), Jennifer King (Asia New Zealand Foundation) and panel facilitator Cath Cardiff (Creative New Zealand).
The forum is delivered in partnership with Asia New Zealand Foundation.
Fringe Festivals: Focus on Edinburgh Festival Fringe
Wednesday 11 March 2015, 10am–12pm, Speigeltent, Aotea Square, Auckland
The purpose of this forum is to share learnings and advice from the artists and companies who presented work as part of the NZ at Edinburgh 2014 Season.
Topics to be covered during the forum include budgeting, Marketing/PR, networking and planning, as well as the need for artists and companies to develop an international strategy. Creative New Zealand staff will also discuss changes to funding criteria to support participation at international Fringe Festivals.
Kath Mainland from the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society will be speaking as part of the panel joined by Managing Director of Assembly Festival and independent producer and promoter Sharon Burgess. New Zealand speakers include Karin Williams (Multinesia), Michael Adams (Auckland Theatre Company), Abby Crowther (Black Grace), Jo Kilgour and David Inns (Auckland Arts Festival), and panel facilitator Cath Cardiff (Creative New Zealand).
