The shows will go on update from the Court Theatre Christchurch

The Court Theatre has emerged unscathed from the Canterbury earthquake and will resume performances this week. Chief Executive Philip Aldridge was with engineers as they inspected the buildings and observed “the theatre has been completely undamaged – we didn’t even break a glass in the bar. It’s wonderful how structurally sound the buildings are.”
Aldridge praises the staff of the theatre for similar resilience in the days following the quake. “The cast of DON’T MENTION CASABLANCA rehearsed off-site; the EROS team were standing by; many people kept working from home – everyone has made phenomenal efforts to ensure we can resume performances as quickly as possible now that we have been given the green light.”
Court staff are contacting all patrons unable to attend performances last week and rebooking their seats. The Box Office will be open from Wednesday. “We will ensure everyone who has paid for a ticket, or those who simply want a night of escapism, can enjoy an evening’s entertainment,” says Aldridge.
The Court has received numerous messages of support from other theatre groups and the Christchurch public. Aldridge feels “humbled” by these responses and is eager to return to the task of entertaining the people of Christchurch and Canterbury. “In times like this we believe getting back to ‘business as usual’ is vital: not just for the people who work here but for the city itself.”
