International experts to speak at 21st Century Arts Conference

Key arts movers and shakers will be in Wellington this week for Creative New Zealand’s 21st Century Arts Conference.

The annual conference features Guy Mallabone, international leader in major gift fundraising, and President of Global Philanthropic Inc (Canada).  Mr Mallabone has spent 32 years as a fund development professional and administrator and is recognised as one of non-profit’s most inspiring speakers. As President and CEO of Global Philanthropic, Mr Mallabone conducts fund development training and consulting around the world.

Other international speakers include Stuart Buchanan, founder of Australian multi-platform arts agency, The Nest, which specialises in web and social media solutions for arts organisations, including the Sydney Festival and Opera Australia and Fiona Allan, CEO of Curve Leicester Theatre Trust, which has established a reputation as one of Britain’s most exciting producing theatres.

Jessica Hunt, Marketing Manager of the British Museum and Bronwyn Klepp, Principal Marketing and Advertising Manager for the Queensland Art Gallery and Gallery of Modern Art are among the other international speakers.

The 21st Century Arts Conference is an annual event attended by arts leaders, managers and marketers from a wide range of arts organisations. This year's theme, Building Audience Capital, looks at how the arts can grow audiences and deepen their engagement.

At the conference, Creative New Zealand will also launch Audience Atlas New Zealand Report 2011 – the result of a major survey of the New Zealand population. This new research provides arts organisations with information to help develop their audience and marketing programmes and to better understand their current and potential audiences. Audience Atlas New Zealand 2011 measures attendance and potential interest for 39 artforms and cultural attractions.
