Netwalking registration open

Aotearoa Digital Arts Network (ADA) are pleased to announce that Netwalking registration is now open.

Netwalking is a series of walks, talks and master-classes with UK-based media artist Simon Pope, taking place between March 16th and April 14th 2013.

The series explores themes from Pope’s recent works such as walking with others, negotiating routes, and exploring relationships between people and our relationships with 'land'.

Public walks in Wellington, Christchurch and Sydney present different aspects of walking-as-art, drawing on examples of Pope's work, with each walk responding to different forms and terrains. Walks require a normal level of fitness, and are punctuated by breaks for discussion and refreshment.

Masterclasses in Wellington, Christchurch, Auckland and Woollongong are an opportunity for artists, performers, academics and students to present and discuss walking or related participatory, media or social art projects with Simon Pope and a group of peers. We are particularly interested in artists working with walking, conversational or dialogic forms, projects that deal with relationship to landscape or environment, expeditionary methodologies and projects that bridge between media art and post-media forms such as walking.

The Artist Talk in Whanganui is an introduction to Pope's work, while the Panel Discussion in Auckland will be an opportunity to develop an understanding of the relationship between Media Art and Participatory forms such as walking-as-art, as well as the exploring possible linkages to environment, ecology, nature and land.

All Netwalking events are free of charge.

Places are limited for Masterclasses and Walks so please register:
