A year-long programme for emerging Māori artists, to build the skills and networks to support them in their artistic careers.
E tipu e rea mo ngā rā o tō ao
Grow up and thrive for the days destined to you.
Tā Apirana Ngata
This year we’ve made some important changes to Toi Tipu Toi Rea, including aligning the programme dates with the Maramataka and creating a capability-building programme to support emerging practitioners as they launch their artistic careers.
About the Toi Tipu Toi Rea - Emerging Māori Artist Programme
Artists will be part of a year-long programme to build the skills and networks to support them in their artistic careers. There will be the opportunity to meet other emerging and established artists, as well as learning more about Creative New Zealand and the art sector.
Each year the capability programme will be created around the unique needs of each cohort. Artists will be asked to identify the professional skills they would like to learn to build their business capability.
If you’d like to hear more about the programme, you can listen to our Arts Practice Director, Māori, Kereama Te Ua speaking on Radio Waatea.
Alongside the new Toi Tipu Toi Rea capability building programme, Creative New Zealand is continuing to offer dedicated funding for emerging Māori artists. See Toi Tipu Toi Rea - Emerging Māori Artist Fund
