Early Career Artists Round two Results

For the second time this year, the Early Career Fund is supporting emerging practitioners.

The Early Career Fund is open throughout the year, with no closing date, and three notification periods during the year. The new fund, part of the For the arts programme, is designed to support experimentation for practitioners in the early stages of their career. Keeping applications open throughout the year means applicants can apply on an as-need basis, as opportunities arise.

The second notification for 2024 has been announced today, with a total of 48 applications supported from 164, says Senior Manager, Arts Development Services, Claire Murdoch.

“It’s great to announce the second round of funding for the Early Career Fund. Since the launch of the fund earlier this year we’ve seen considerable growth in the number of applicants, with twice as many applications assessed for this period. We’ve supported a high number of projects outside the main centres, and those with a focus on completing, publishing or presenting new work in the form of exhibitions and touring shows,” she says.

Community connections and mentorship featured strongly in successful applications.

“It’s been excellent to see so many applications demonstrating community links and knowledge building with peers. Those that were successful clearly explained and included plans for developing and supporting local networks to learn, create and share together. We are stoked to continue to support the development of emerging practitioners through this separate and distinct opportunity,” says Claire.

In total $405,000 has been allocated to the Early Career Fund for this period. The next notification period for this fund will be in November 2024.
