Aspire Asia – save the date

Performing artists and arts organisations who want to succeed in Asia are invited to Aspire Asia, a one-day symposium to be held on Friday 8 March 2019 at Q Theatre in Auckland.

Aspire Asia is for performing arts practitioners and organisations with some experience touring or collaborating in the region and for those ready to head to Asia for the first time.

“Asia is a region with vast potential and rich artistic exchange opportunities for practitioners who aspire to succeed on the international stage and develop their artistic practice,” says Cath Cardiff, Creative New Zealand Senior Manager, Arts Development Services.

“We’ve seen strong results from many of our artists working in Asia. This symposium aims to equip the performing arts sector with additional tools to help more artists thrive,” she says.

Speakers will include New Zealand artists and practitioners who have successfully presented, toured or collaborated in the region as well as international speakers from Asia.

Sessions will feature market intelligence from New Zealand artists and practitioners, and include information on future trends in Asia. There will be dedicated sessions on key markets such as Singapore and China. Information on funding and support available from Creative New Zealand’s Focus on Asia Initiative will also be presented at the symposium.

“Whether you have some experience and want to learn more, or are about to take your first steps into one or more of these vastly different markets, this is an opportunity to expand your knowledge and gain specific intelligence from others,” says Cath Cardiff.
