Te Waka Toi is calling for proposals for a Māori Arts Presenter Fund to support touring of quality Māori art works within New Zealand and build the audiences for Māori arts.
The $150,000 Māori Arts Presenter Fund is to provide support for selected roopu/groups to purchase and present quality Māori art to Māori communities. Up to three Roopu/Groups of Māori arts presenters may be supported through the Fund. Preference will be given to groups who have experience in presenting Māori works to Māori communities.
Proposals to the Fund will be considered as part of the March 2010 Te Waka Toi Arts Grants funding round.
To be considered for support from the Fund a Roopu/Group must submit a written proposal to the Wellington offices of CNZ by no later than 5pm on Friday 5 March, 2010.
Selected roopu will be able to draw upon the Fund from June 2010 to December 2011.
Further details about Fund criteria, the composition of a roopu/group, selection process and time frames can be downloaded on the Maori Arts Presenter Fund page in the Distribution Strategy section of this website.
The piloting of a Māori Arts Presenter Fund in 2010-11 is part of the roll out of the Creative New Zealand Distribution Strategy adopted by the Arts Council earlier this year.
