Art in Oceania  Historical Perspectives Contemporary Issues A Symposium Saturday 29 May

Presented by City Gallery Wellington and the School of Art History, Classics and Religious Studies, Victoria University of Wellington, with support from the Royal Society of New Zealand Marsden Fund.

In this symposium, members of the Marsden funded Art in Oceania Project will present public lectures based on some of their work, while a group of panelists will reflect on current issues facing the practice and curating of contemporary Maori and Pacific art. Speakers include Nicholas Thomas (Museum of Anthropology and Archaeology, Cambridge University), Lissant Bolton (The British Museum), Peter Brunt (Victoria University of Wellington) and Sean Mallon (Te Papa Tongarewa/Museum of New Zealand).
