Call for applications for writers residency at the Michael King Writers Centre

<p>Writers are invited to apply for the 2009 residency at the Michael King Writers Centre, to take place July to December 2009.</p>

The University of Auckland/Creative New Zealand Writer-in-Residence at the

Michael King Writers’ Centre will run from July to December 2009.

The Michael King Writers’ Centre is delighted to announce that it has received funding from Creative New Zealand for its next six-month writer’s residency, offered jointly with The University of Auckland. Applications will close on June 10.

The residency aims to foster New Zealand writing by providing an opportunity for an established author to work full-time on a major project in an academic environment, together with free accommodation and a studio working space at the Michael King Writers’ Centre in Devonport, Auckland.

The residency is open to New Zealand authors working in the field of fiction, poetry, drama or non-fiction. A stipend of $30,000 is offered.
