Call for applications for Te Wananga Whakairo Rakau   National Carving School

New Zealand Māori Arts and Crafts Institute are now seeking applications for the 38th intake for Te Wānanga Whakairo Rākau (the National Carving School). Applicants must be between 18 and 30 years old and be able to demonstrate a competency in handling chisels, and have an ability and willingness to interpret and understand the theory component of this course.

While individuals are required to complete the application form in full, we recommend they are supported by tono from tribal authorities, marae committees and whānau.

To maintain the standard and quality of our graduates, places are strictly limited to 5 people or less per intake.

Applications for these positions close on Monday November 1st at 5pm.
