New funding system to be operational from February 2009 funding round

Creative New Zealand has recently completed a review of how it funds projects through the Arts Board, Te Waka Toi and the Pacific Arts Committee. As a result of this review, Creative New Zealand will be implementing a new funding system for the February 2009 funding round.

We are also in the process of reviewing our special opportunities for artists. While this review takes place some of the residencies and fellowships that we have been supporting have been put on hold for 2007/2008.

Information about the new funding system

Creative New Zealand will be producing more documentation about the funding system in September and the new Funding Guide which details the new system will be available in November.  In November we will also be talking to artists and arts organisations to explain the changes and implications for the arts sector and applicants.

Creative New Zealand will be running national workshops between November 2008 and February 2009. Information about these workshops will be available on the website from October this year.

Where do I address questions about the new funding system not answered by the Frequently Asked Questions?

Please address queries about the new funding system to: funding@creativenz.govt.nz

Are these changes  going to affect my current application for project funding?

No. The 2009 Funding Guide will be available in November 2008. In the meantime, the current approach to project funding will remain in place for the July 2008 funding round. Detailed information can be found in The Funding Guide: Ngā Pūtea and applications for the July funding round close on Friday, 25 July 2008.

Did the review of funding include all Creative New Zealand funding?

No. The review didn't look at our other funding programmes such as the New Zealand Authors' Fund, the Creative Communities Scheme or our recurrently funded organisations.
