Funding | Arts Board | Festivals FAQs
This page describes the preferred method for presenting an application and drawing down a grant. This applies to all applications made to the Creative New Zealand Festivals' Committee for funding support for a programme featuring New Zealand works and artists. It needs to be read alongside the information in the Funding section of this site.
Two questions
- Are you a multi-artform festival? If yes, this information is for you.
- Are you an artform-specific festival? If yes, you need to apply to an artform committee. Click on the links in the menu on the left to go to the relevant artform section.
What types of festival are eligible for consideration by the Festivals' Committee?
To be eligible your festival must:
- be multi-artform
- have a successful track record through the delivery of two previous festivals
- have a successful track record of project funding support through Creative New Zealand's artform assessment committees.
Please refer to the Funding Guide: Nga Putea 2008 for more information.
How does the funding application process work?
There are two parts to the funding process for multi-artform festivals. Each stage is described below, and templates have been provided to help structure your application in the preferred format.
Part 1: Application for project funding
Use the template provided below to structure your application for project funding support from the Festivals' Committee of the Arts Board. As you will be applying well before you are able to contract artists and confirm works, your proposal will require programming flexibility and is likely therefore to be based on a "draft menu" approach.
It is likely that in the lead-up to your festival opening some changes will occur to the "draft menu". These changes will be reflected in Part 2.
Part 2: Drawing down a project funding grant
Use the template provided below to present information about your confirmed programme at the time of drawing down your grant. This information will be accompanied by your completed Acceptance of Grant form. There are three components in this section.
Part 3: Project completion report
Use our project completion template (MS Word 110KB) to structure your project completion report at the conclusion of your event. This is a requirement of your funding agreement with Creative New Zealand.
