How and what types of personal information we collect

We collect personal information from you when you create an account to access our funding portal, when you access and use our websites and when you voluntarily provide information to us.

We collect the following types of information:

• Any personal information you voluntarily provide to us through any channel, including the website

• When signing up to the funding portal, we will collect:
  • Your name
  • Your contact details
  • Gender (optional)
  • Date of birth
  • Where you live
  • Residency status (optional)
  • Ethnicity

• If you are successfully awarded funding, we will ask you for your bank account details so we can pay you.

We will use the personal information you provide to:

• carry out our funding processes
• carry out tasks directly related to our statutory purpose
• provide you with information or services you have asked for.

Who we provide your personal information to

We may share your personal information with other funders and government agencies, including to ensure there is no duplication of funding. We regularly share information with government agencies including Manatū Taonga Ministry for Culture and Heritage, NZ On Air, the New Zealand Music Commission and Te Māngai Pāho.

We will also share your personal information with our contractors and third parties who provide services to us and help us deliver our information and services. Personal information may be made publicly available where you have agreed that it can be made so available.

We may also make your information available to third parties where required or permitted to do so by applicable law.

Storing and accessing your personal information

We take all reasonable steps to keep your information secure and we comply with our obligations under the Privacy Act 2020.

Statistical information and cookies

Statistical information may be collected when you visit our website to help us improve the website. This information will not identify you personally and may include:

• Your location (at a city/town level)
• Language used
• Your IP address
• Type of web browser operating system
• Screen resolution
• What Creative New Zealand website content you looked at
• Search terms you used
• Links you clicked
• What website referred you to our website (e.g. Google, or Direct etc)

We use browser cookies to provide us with information about website usage and improve the service offered to website visitors. Cookies are small files which are sent by a website and stored on your computer's hard drive. Cookies are also used to allow your preferences to be retained by your browser. Cookies from our website are not used to gather personally identifiable information.
