Communications Manager
Do you want to have the chance to make an impact on arts development in New Zealand? We are looking for a skilled specialist to lead our communications function. The focus of the role is on providing high-level advice on communication and advocacy issues and to providing day to day operational management of the Communications Team. To succeed in this role you must have:
- Significant experience in the development of communication strategies in government and business organisations
- Ability to develop and manage an integrated communications plan
- Knowledge of media relations, systems and personnel, and their audiences
- A commitment to the principles of the Treaty or Waitangi
- Experience with arts practice, planning, administration or management is desirable

Programme Adviser - Arts Development
1 Year Fixed Term
Are you looking for a challenge in a highly creative field? Do you want to be part of a dynamic arts team and have the chance to make an impact on the development of arts in New Zealand? We are looking for a candidate with a proven track record of commitment and success in the professional arts to provide advice to artists, arts sector organisations and internally within Creative New Zealand. You will have a key role in carrying out various arts initiatives in support of Creative New Zealand’s strategic plan. This position is based in our Auckland office and is to replace an employee on parental leave for 12 months, starting as soon as possible.
To be successful in this role, you will have a relevant undergraduate qualification (or equivalent) and demonstrated experience in:
- Arts practice, planning, administration or management
- Understanding of government policies and processes relating to arts access, participation, professional practice and arts development
- The literary sector
- We would also be interested in candidates with specialist knowledge in another art form(s) in addition to the literary sector.
You will also be able to demonstrate:
- Appreciation of issues influencing arts development in New Zealand
- Knowledge of relevant arts organisations and networks and their contribution to the arts sector
- A customer service focus
- Excellent relationship management skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Commitment to the principles of the Treaty or Waitangi
