Review of Creative New Zealand’s Recurrently Funded Organisations

Creative New Zealand is embarking on its scheduled review of the recurrently funded organisations (RFO) portfolio.

The review’s purpose is to understand how the current investment in RFOs is helping to achieve Creative New Zealand’s priorities. The review will include recommendations for improvement and change in process, composition of the portfolio and levels of investment.

Consultation Process

In September/October 2009 Creative New Zealand will survey organisations in the recurrently funded portfolio to establish their views about the recurrent funding system and how it could be improved. The survey will be based on the Terms of Reference (Word Document, 45 KB) – a set of guidelines outlining the basis of the review.

The results of this survey will inform a discussion document to be sent to the RFOs, key stakeholders and the wider arts sector in December 2009, with feedback required by the end of January 2010.

We will then hold regional workshops with recurrently funded organisations and key stakeholders in March 2010 to present the options arising from this review.

The results of the Review and any recommendations arising are to be submitted for the Arts Council’s consideration by no later than June 2010.

Any changes arising from the review will not be implemented until 1 January 2012.
